GIS Developer

Farallon Geographics, Inc. seeks an innovative and entrepreneurial GIS Developer to join our geospatial systems integration team. We desire an enthusiastic developer who can help build and manage our clients’ GIS technologies as well as our internal computer network. Web application development and database skills are desirable.

You should have an understanding of enterprise-scale databases and the role web-based applications can play in presenting geographically-referenced information to users throughout an enterprise.

Qualifications:

MS/BS in geography, engineering, computer science, or other related field

Experience with ArcGIS or other desktop GIS packages

Ability to learn and help manage Farallon’s computer network including VMware virtual servers and Amazon AMI’s

Knowledge of RDBMS technology such as SQL Server, Oracle, or Postgres

JavaScript Web application development experience (e.g., ExtJS and JQuery)

Experience with or knowledge of mobile technologies including Android and iOS helpful

Experience with or knowledge of Open Source geospatial technologies like OpenLayers and GeoServer helpful

Ability to quickly learn new technologies

Ability to work collaboratively and productively in a small team

Excellent communication and organization skills

GIS Web Application Developer

Farallon Geographics, Inc. seeks an innovative and entrepreneurial Web Application Developer to join our geospatial systems integration team. We desire an enthusiastic engineer who can develop efficient, well-structured systems to power our suite of enterprise map-based asset management and decision support applications.

We are seeking an expert with object-oriented technologies who can work comfortably with enterprise relational databases and a variety of technologies. You should be driven by the opportunity to help Farallon improve application development tools, platforms, and patterns.

Required Qualifications:

BS in a science, computer science, or engineering field, or the equivalent experience
1-3 years of creating services driven web application development using .NET/.NET MVC (C# preferred) or Python
At least 1 year of experience creating database driven web sites
Familiarity with Open Source web frameworks like Django a plus
Familiarity with common design patterns (e.g., Active Record, Repository)
Understanding of common network architectures
Ability to work collaboratively and productively in a small team
Excellent communication and organization skills

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

Experience with Open Source geospatial technologies desirable
Mobile application development experience a plus (Android preferred)
Experience working with database like Postgres, MS SQL Server is very desirable
JavaScript coding experience and debugging skills helpful
Experience with traditional GIS systems (e.g., ESRI) is desirable
